The Fjord Horse mailing list is a free open forum dedicated to the discussion of all subjects relating to the Norwegian Fjord horse. The primary subject of the list is the Fjord horse, but the list is open to the discussion of any related equine issue.
Typical subjects may include selection, breeding, care, training and use of Fjord horses. Personal experiences, discussions of training techniques, good advice and pleasant conversation are always welcome here. View the list as an opportunity to sit around the kitchen table with friends and discuss Fjord horses over a pot of good coffee.
Postings of competitions and clinics, and "for sale" ads relating to horses and equipment are welcome. Non-related commercial ads, chain letters and flaming are not tolerated.
The list has been active since March 29, 1998 and currently has over 800 subscribers. Although the majority of the participants are from the United States and Canada, there are a number from many European countries as well. One of more members are from Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, England, France, Germany, Scotland, Denmark, Switzerland, and Finland. In addition, there are subscribers hailing from Bermuda, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
List members represent a full range of experience with Fjords, from some the the earliest North American breeders to people still shopping for their

first horse. The amount of knowledge exchanged on the list is boundless. People are always willing to help those facing a new situation, and the very knowledge that someone has faced it before is often comforting. Several subscribers are equine veterinarians who have been very generous in sharing their professional knowledge.
The value of a Fjord-specific information resource can not be underrated. Certain training and care issues such as feeding are unique to this breed. For example, it is satisfying to know that Fjord owners around the world work equally hard to keep weight off their horses.
